Bram Stieltjes is Vice Chair of Research of the department of Radiology and heads the Department of Research and Analytical Services in IT. After Medical School in Rotterdam, Nottingham, Baltimore, and Heidelberg, he trained in radiology, radiation therapy, and child psychiatry at the German National Cancer Center and the Heidelberg University Hospital. Here, he also formed and lead the quantitative imaging-based disease characterization group, an interdisciplinary group between Physics, Computer science and Radiology. Based on the research within this group, he obtained a PhD in the field of image analysis from the Leiden University. In the field of diffusion MRI, he is an international expert in translational imaging. In 2014, Dr. Stieltjes moved to Basel where he works on hospital-wide data integration and extraction in a clinical context for both research and diagnostic purposes.
